Junior & Caddy Championships

Thirty - three players participated in the Hermanus Fruit and Veg City Junior and Caddy Championships held on Thursday 21 April. With the Course in tip-top shape, bathed by a warm but not too hot autumn sun, the scene was set for a perfect day. The players got off to an early start as thirty six holes, true championship format, was to be played on the day.

Michael Steyn - 2011 Junior Champion

Michael Steyn, our 2010 Junior Champion, ensured the retaining of the title by recording a gross score of 75 in the morning and following it with 74 in the afternoon, for an impressive total of 149. Jurie Jan Swart followed his disappointing score of 85 in the morning with a solid 77 in the afternoon and on 162 secured the runner up slot. Morne Brummer playing off a 33 handicap won the 36hole nett competition on 133 (65,68) closely followed by Megan Louw playing off a 32 handicap, only one stroke behind on 134 (72,62).  

Stanley May - 2011 Caddy Champion

Stanley May with rounds of 79 and 81 for a total of 160 retrieved the title of Caddy Champion which he lost to Norman Swarts in 2010. An off form Norman followed his morning round of 81 with 86 tying with Anthony Brown (87,80) on 167. In line with Club count directives based on the second eighteen hole score, Anthony was given the runner up prize.
