The Daysh Cup was presented to Hermanus Golf Club by Miss M McLennan, in memory of a friend; Madeline Elsie Daysh. Mrs Daysh was responsible for organizing the first British Golf Team to South Africa and was respected as a distinguished Golfer. First played for in 1948, the Daysh Cup has grown in popularity and today it is certainly one of the highlights on the Cape’s Golfing Calendar.
There were 32 teams (128 players) from 15 clubs from Western Province and the Boland. Most clubs entered 2 teams and Paarl, Hermanus, Mowbray and Rondebosch entered 3 teams.
