Hole by hole

Hole

01

This dogleg-left hole features bunkers on both sides of the fairway. An ideal drive favours the right side, providing a better angle to approach the two-tiered green, which is nestled among pine trees and protected by pot bunkers on either side.

This scenic double dogleg hole requires a tee shot along the right side of the fairway. Laying up short of the fairway bunker sets up a relatively straightforward approach to the multi-tiered green.

Hole

03

This hole, the longest par 4 on the course, features strategically placed fairway bunkers designed to challenge big hitters. For those unable to reach the green in two shots, beware of the hidden bunker on the left side of the fairway. The shared double green with the 12th hole presents a unique challenge due to its expansive size.

Hole

The views of Walker Bay from every tee on this hole are breathtaking. Accuracy off the tee is crucial, as missing the fairway brings trouble with a lone bunker and out-of-bounds threatening the right side. Careful consideration is needed when selecting your layup position, as three fairway bunkers may come into play. The hole is framed by a majestic forest, casting shadows over the sloping green, making club selection particularly challenging.

Hole

07

This stroke-one hole is the most challenging on the course. A well-executed draw off the tee is ideal to bypass the fairway bunkers on the right. For the approach, a fade into the undulating green is recommended to steer clear of the deep swales on the left.

This stunning par 4 demands a well-placed drive. Despite the no-play zone on the left of the fairway and a green protected by a wildlife dam on the right and bunkers to the left and front-right, longer hitters can still find birdie opportunities here.

Hole

11

This is the course’s signature hole. Players must navigate a corridor of mature trees to reach the green. A pot bunker, located about 40 meters short of the green, awaits any errant second shots. The four-tier green is well guarded by bunkers on the left and a steep drop-off on the right.

Hole

This stroke-2 hole may seem straightforward, but it’s not. The ideal tee shot should be aimed up the right side of the fairway. To play this hole effectively, a solid approach shot is needed to reach the elevated green, which is guarded by bunkers at both the front and back. Whatever you do, don’t be short!

Hole

This deceptive hole presents plenty of challenges for big hitters. Humps on both sides of the fairway have been strategically placed, narrowing the path to the green. Miss this narrow channel, and trouble is sure to follow. For the approach, it’s safer to err on the short side, as trouble lie beyond the back of the green.

The tees are situated within an environmentally sensitive area. Two fairway bunkers on the right often push players to the left, towards a long, elongated waste area. The undulating green is the only one on the course not guarded by bunkers.

The ideal tee shot on this par 5 is a draw to the left side of the fairway, avoiding both the bunkers and the scenic stream on the right. A stray drive to the left, into the trees, can result in high scores. A well-placed drive will leave you with a long second shot to a green protected by a bunker on the front left. The green slopes from left to right.

A three shot par 5, this hole punishes wayward tee shots, which are likely to end up in a penalty area on either side. Players should aim to lay up to their preferred approach distance to a multi-tiered green, guarded by water on the left and a swale and bunker on the right. A classic hole.

A short, seemingly innocent par 4. Longer hitters may attempt to reach the green, but the wiser player will lay up to their preferred approach distance, as the severely undulating green is more receptive to full shots than short pitches. Numerous bunkers are ready to catch any errant shots, and be cautious of overhitting, as shots that go too far may land in the ecological wetland preserve.
